December 2nd is the final Psych Club meeting of the Fall 08 semester.  This meeting will be a social to discuss the upcoming spring semester.

This Week In The WCU Psych Department

The Student Life Committee is hosting the 1st annual Psychology Department Career Day.  There will be a panel of WCU psychology alumni talking about the career paths they chose after graduation. Refreshments will be served.

3:15-4pm Peoples Building Room 34
ReMed is coming to the Psych Club. They will come with interesting stories and great career opportunities for psych club members.

Sports Psychology on 10/28

You asked for sports psychology... and we got it!  Dr. Margaret Ottley will coming to our October 28th meeting.  Dr.Ottley is a professor at WCU in sports psychology and kinesiology. She has a long list of educational and professional accomplishments.  This summer Dr.Ottley was one of two sports psychologists working with the USA track & field team to travel to Beijing for the 2008 Olympic Games!

The Next Couple Of Meetings

There will be NO MEETING on Tuesday, October 14th due to Fall Break. Enjoy the break!

The following Tuesday, October 21st will be the psych club meeting about "I/O Psychology." Dr.Bunk and Dr.Yorges will be discussing the area of I/O psychology, including research and career paths. Don't miss out on your chance to learn about one of the highest paying career paths in psychology!

Meeting 10/7

The psych club meeting on Tuesday, October 7th will be about "Getting Involved In Research." We will discuss research opportunities available with psychology faculty here at WCU.  Doing research is a great thing, especially when it comes to applying to graduate school.  Additionally, participating in research can count towards your psychology degree by filling the Group III requirement (PSY 410).

Meeting 9/30

The next Psychology Club meeting will be on Tuesday, September 30th.  The topic will be "Preparing For Grad School" with an emphasis on clinical and counseling programs.  Several psychology faculty members will be speaking on this topic.  If you are interested in this topic, you will learn a lot about what graduate programs are available, grad school admissions requirements, and what you should be doing now to prepare.  Although, you should still attend the meeting if you are not interested in going to grad school or are unsure because it will be informative and may help you decide what you might like to pursue.

Meeting 9/16 : "Meet The Faculty"

Tuesday, September 16th is the "Meet The Faculty" meeting.  At this meeting, a panel of psychology faculty members will be there to introduce themselves.  Also, they will talk about the classes they teach and the research they conduct.  This is a great opportunity for psychology students to meet the faculty in the psychology department at WCU.  Don't miss this meeting, it's going to be good!

The Involvement Fair

The involvement fair at WCU is a great way for students to get involved!  The fair is from 11am-3pm on Wednesday, September 3rd.  It will be be held on the front lawn of the Ehinger Gym.  The Psychology Club will have a table there and will be looking for new members to join our great club.  So, stop by and say hi!
